DePaul University has an exclusive agreement for catering services with Chartwells. Any University department, student organization or off campus organization that is using catering services (including alcoholic beverages) in the course of their meetings, programs, and events must order all food and beverage through Chartwells. Student organizations only who wish to request an exemption for an event must contact Brian Wernimont, the Director of Catering at 773-325-3250.
For any orders placed less than 72 hours prior to the event date,the event planner must call the DePaul Catering offices to confirm the event at:

We will be pleased to accommodate guests with restricted dietary requirements provided that we have at least three days notice prior to the event.
Wait staff is available at an additional cost for served or wait staff assisted meals. See wait staff charges listed in the policy section of this guide. Chartwells will make the final determination if wait staff is necessary and how much of it is required based on the event’s details. All items are served on disposable products. China can be substituted at an additional cost. China events require wait staff - the Catering Department will determine special considerations.
Final Guarantees for guest count and special requests, i.e vegetarian, gluten, etc. must be given to Chartwells 3 Full Business days, excluding the weekends prior to the event. Any changes after, will incur a $25.00 service fee.
There will be an additional charge for required (or requested) wait staff. The charge is $200.00 per waitress and/or bartender, cashier or coat check attendant for four hours.
All menu prices are based on a single drop off and breakdown. A replenishment fee of $25.00 will be charged for each occurence to cover labot costs. The charge is in addition to the cost of any additional food or beverage or equipment requested. This service will be provided whenever it does not interfere with other scheduled events.
China service is the standard for served meals only and when requested only by the customer; otherwise disposable plastic ware will be used. China and glassware is available for an additional charge of $3.50 per person. A charged attendant is required for every 20 guests using china for buffets.
Custom floral arrangements are available at an additional charge. Please contact us to make arrangements at least 5 business days prior to your event.
Black in House Linen service will be provided for food tables. Non-food tables can be covered with linen by the catering department for an additional cost of $6.00 per round seating tables and banquet size tables. In House Skirting is $12.00 each and highboys with linen are $30.00 each. Please contact the catering department for specialty linen.
To protect your health and prevent food illnesses from occurring, the catering staff will remove all foods from the event. Catering does not provide to-go containers, platters, baskets, or bags.
Equipment is NOT to be taken from the original event to another location. If equipment is missing upon pickup after the event, the group or department who planned the particular event will be charged a replacement cost unless it is returned to the Catering Office promptly.
Any events catered on weekends will have labor charges of $1.00 per guest per service time added to their invoices with a minimum of $25 per service time.
In the event you must cancel your catered event, please notify us as soon as possible. We require at least 48 hours’ notice in advance or you will be charged for the expenses incurred on your behalf. Orders cancelled within the designated time frame will incur no charges. All other cancellations may be charged at full price.
Catering for outside groups are required to pay a 50% deposit the day the event is booked. The 50% balance is due the day of the event, before the event begins. Payment with credit card and bankers checks are acceptable. We cannot accept personal checks or business checks as payment. If there are any add-ons the day of the event you will be invoiced the add-ons once the event is over.
